Swimmers sensational season

THE Warracknabeal Swim Club celebrated the season's achievements last week, while farewelling a familar face after more than 15 years of service.

THE Warracknabeal Swim Club celebrated the season's achievements last week, while farewelling a familar face after more than 15 years of service.

President Melanie Byron thanked all our swimmers and their families for helping make the season a success.

The club hosted three events for the season, which is a lot of work for a small club.

The coaches were the first to be thanked for their tiresome work throughout the season.

The swim captains delivered a memorable speech to Stacey Drage, who finished her last season with the club.

A number of trophy winners were crowned and personal bests were celebrated.

Most improved trophies for freestyle are Mikaela Spicer and Sophia Bull

Cooper Schulz and Chloe Anderson won the same for breaststroke.

Edison Benton-Huebner, Laura Anderson and Makenzie Roche were recognised for their efforts in breaststroke, while Lucas Moore and Isaac Credlin saw similar nods for the butterfly.

Encouragement trophies went to Olivia Moore, Layla Chivell, Lauren Jenkinson, Harper Benton Huebner, Piper Knorpp, Ivy Benton-Huebner, Poppy Smith and Heidi Anderson.

Medals for 10 or more seconds off a PB time over the year went to Laura Anderson, Sophia Bull, Charlie Gregson, Teddy Boyd, Harry Lang, Cooper Schulz, Chloe Anderson, Mikaela Spicer, Edison Benton-Huebner, Lucas Moore, Mallory Doidge, Makenzie Roche, Evelyn Doidge.

The best first-year competitor trophy went to Laura Anderson, who had a ripper year, taking 16-20 seconds off her 50m freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke over the year.

The coach's awards went to Makenzie Roche and Charlie Gregson.

The swimmers earning the most points in the swim meet this year were Lucas Moore, Junior swimmer, 7-10 years; Elijah Keam, Intermediate swimmer, 11-15 years; and Elsa Byron, Senior Swimmer, 16+ years.

The Roger Tempest Memorial trophy winner for the highest placing at the Wimmera Championships aged 16 years and under was Eljah Keam, who also won the sash for age champion on the day.

The Club Champion's perpetual trophy for highest points overall age groups was Eljah Keam.
