Ritchies IGA to offer compostable bags
Richies IGA stores across the Yarriambiack Shire are now offering customers reusable compostable bags as an alternative to traditional plastic and paper bags at the checkout.

This comes after a successful eight week trial held in select stores earlier this year which showed high demand for the product.
In partnership with MyEcoBag, 76 stores across Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland have been a part of the recent roll out.
Ritchies IGA Warracknabeal store manager Les Klemm said the response from customers about the bags has been great.
"They end up being used at home for food scraps and bins," he said.
"The bags are very sturdy and tough which is great."
MyEcoBag CEO Richard Tegoni said the partnership has been a great case study for what’s possible, preferred and planet-friendly, and one that he hopes will influence the wider industry to move towards a more environmentally friendly option at a much faster rate.
"This initiative aims to acquaint a broader audience of shoppers and consumers with the practical and environmental benefits of choosing compostable bags,” he said.
“People are choosing functional, eco-friendly products more often and this shift is expected to accelerate over the next two to three years and beyond.
"The strong early feedback from shoppers purchasing compostable shopping bags over paper bags has enabled MyEcoBag to secure pivotal meetings with additional retailers."
