Rainbow runs for awareness
Rainbow residents turned out in strong numbers for a colour run event supporting the 16 Days of Activism Against Gendered Violence, with around 45 people attending events held across Rainbow and Dimboola.

Hindmarsh Shire Council mayor Ron Ismay officially opened the Rainbow event, welcoming participants and outlining the purpose of the 16 Days of Activism campaign and the role communities can play in keeping people safe.
Representatives from Allied Justice also addressed the crowd, sharing information about their services and the support available to people experiencing violence.
Following the opening, participants took part in a fun run, finishing fully covered in colour before enjoying a barbecue provided by the Rainbow Lions Club.
Cr Ron Ismay said the Rainbow event highlighted strong community support, particularly from young people.
“Our 16 days of activism Colour Runs have been well supported, especially with the younger generations,” he said.
“Even those who were there to spectate did not remain un-coloured.
“These events, held each year, raise awareness of the terrible scourge that is gender-based violence and family violence.
“This violence comes in forms other than physical, but whatever way it may be inflicted, we as a community must endeavour to eradicate it wherever we can.
“Our Colour Run is just one of those avenues to raise awareness and bring the community together.”
A planned Colour Run in Jeparit was cancelled due to unfavourable weather conditions.
