Rainbow claims premiership

Rainbow has claimed the Dimboola and District Tennis Association premiership, defeating Dimboola in a competitive grand final by 11 sets to 7, finishing with 127 games to 109.

The day began with the mixed doubles, where Rainbow made an early statement by winning the opening two sets.

Hugh Herben and Rowie Keller combined strongly to defeat Jesse Day and Jennie Hauselberger 9–0, while Tom Schumann and Hailey York followed with another 9–3 victory.

Dimboola responded through Ashley Clugston and Breanna Eldridge, who secured a solid 9–4 win over Mark Bastin and Jordi Cocks.

Simon Clugston and Kane Bastin won another for Rainbow, 9-0 over Isaac Eldridge and Tilly Barry.

Dimboola responded through Ben Molineaux and Issy Clugston in a tight 9–8 result over Lucas Edelsten and Courtney Newton, and Rob and Lyla Barry in a 9-4 win over Nathan Cocks and Bianca Orr.

The mixed section finished evenly on sets (3–3), though Rainbow held the advantage on games, 43–30.

Rainbow then took firm control during the men’s doubles, winning five of the six sets.

Hugh and Nathan defeated Jesse and Lenny 9-7, Simon and Lucas defeated Isaac and Ben 9-6, Hugh and Tom defeated Jesse and Ashley 9-8, Simon and Mark defeated Isaac and Rob 9-5, and Tom and Nathan defeated Ashley and Lenny 9-7.

Dimboola’s only breakthrough came from Ben Molineaux and Rob Barry, who fought hard for a narrow 9–8 win over Lucas and Mark.

Dimboola rallied in the women’s doubles, matching Rainbow with three sets apiece.

Yolly and Jennie led the charge with a commanding 9–2 victory over Rowie and Jordi, while Yolly and Breanna also impressed with another 9–2 win over Rowie and Bianca.

Breanna and Jennie added a dominant 9–0 result over Bianca and Jordi to keep the contest alive.

Rainbow responded with wins to Hailey and Kane 9-2 over Tilly and Isy, Hailey and Courtney 9-4 over Tilly and Lyla and Courtney and Kane 9-4 over Isy and Lyla.

Despite the late fightback, Rainbow’s strength in the men’s section proved decisive, sealing the premiership 11 sets to 7 in an entertaining and hard-fought grand final.
