Get ready for a fun-filled weekend of music, comedy, yarn-spinning, workshops, art exhibitions, bush tucker and, just to be different, sheep racing!
Returning from a two-year hiatus, Patchewollock Music Festival has secured a sensational line up of artists including crowd favourite Pete Denahy on Friday night and Mick Thomas and the Roving Commission on Saturday night. Whether you're into blues, folk, jazz, rock, bluegrass, country, soul... you’ll hear it all in Patchewollock from 14th – 16th October.
As well as music, there will be art exhibitions from Brian Lea, a lifelong shearer from Birchip, and Patchewollock-based eco-tourism business, ‘Explore the Mallee’. To keep kids entertained there will be drumming workshops and puppet shows.
Committee member Louise Nicholas said “On Saturday we’ve got MC Col Driscoll, a renowned bush poet, entertaining the crowd between the bands. He’s also running a workshop on Saturday morning called Bush Poetry for Beginners. Like previous years, we want to really encourage any budding poets or musicians to get up on stage too. The pub will have open mic nights on Thursday 13th and all day Sunday 16th… so bring your instruments and have a jam.”

This year, a ticket must be purchased online prior to the festival at www.patchewollockmusicfestival.com.au Tickets are $50 for adults (age 16 & over) and free for children (age 15 & under). Tickets include access to free camping on a "first in best dressed" basis.
On Saturday night camp oven meals will be prepared over hot coals. Pre-order a plate of tasty, slow-cooked meat & veg for $25, when buying tickets online. The pub and food trucks will also be serving a selection of hot and cold food and drinks.
2022 marks the eighth year of the festival, an event that attracts many tourists as well as people from the isolated communities across the region, creating a chance for them to connect and celebrate. The festival also creates a strong sense of communal pride for the many residents and local community groups that volunteer their time and skills to organise it.
President Peter Walch said “It’s exciting to feel life coming back to some kind of normal since covid. We’ve had such strong support from our partners and generous sponsorship from local businesses. Everyone wants to see the festival succeed and all the funds go back into the local community groups and keeping the festival sustainable, so we can’t wait to welcome people back!”
