Melbourne Cup at Sheep Hills Cup day

LAST Thursday at Flemington racecourse Warracknabeal was selected as one of the 36 destinations throughout Australia and overseas to host the Lexus Melbourne Cup trophy on its pre-race tour.

Warracknabeal Racing Club president Mark Phelan and Club Manager Emma Beaton were in attendance for the announcement and were elated at the outcome.

The Cup will now plan activities on the day for the public to experience the presence of the iconic Cup now valued at $850,000.

The Lexus Melbourne Cup Sweep will again be conducted and 24 rural destinations will each be allocated a barrier in the Cup with the winning town receiving $50,000 for the charity of their choice.

Warracknabeal has gained an entry.

The tour is the 23rd conducted by the Victoria Racing Club which starts on Tuesday, November 4, at the Flemington racecourse prior to the running of the Cup.
