Horsham Lawn remain clear on top

The Horsham Lawn Tennis Club remain a game clear of Central Park on top of the ladder in the Central Wimmera Tennis Association following a tough 8-6 win over St Michaels at Coughlin Park in round 14.

Horsham Lawn held a 3-1 lead after the doubles sets, with Tahlia Thompson and Cherie Wood defeating Kassie Peachey and Kate-Lyn Perkin 8-6, Gemma Walker and Ella Thompson defeating Mia Rees and Kate-Lyn Perkin 8-3, and Graeme Wood and Lachlan Punchard defeating Eli Bailey and Peter Hayes 8-4. Nick Robertson and Harrison Daniell defeated D'Artagnan Walls and Andrew Dorman for St Michaels.

St Michaels bounced back in the singles, winning 3-1 to level the scores 4-4. Eli Bailey defeated Lachlan Punchard 8-5, Kate-Lyn Perkin defeated Tahlia Thompson 8-5, and Harrison Daniell defeated D'Artagnan Walls 8-4. Gemma Walker had a tough 8-6 win over Mia Rees for Horsham Lawn.

With the match coming down to the final six doubles sets, Lawn reigned supreme, winning 4-2.

Cherie Wood and Ella Thompson defeated Kassie Peachey and Kate-Lyn Perkin 8-3, Lachlan Punchard and Andrew Dorman defeated Eli Bailey and Nick Robertson 8-5, Tahlia Thompson and Ella Thompson defeated Kate-Lyn Perkin and Harrison Daniell 8-5, and Gemma Walker and Cherie Wood defeated Kassie Peachey and Mia Rees 8-7 in a thriller.

St Michaels' wins came through Harrison Daniell and Peter Hayes, who defeated D'Artagnan Walls and Graeme Wood 8-5, and Peter Hayes and Nick Robertson, who defeated Graeme Wood and Andrew Dorman 8-6.

Central Park, who had a dominant 12-2 win over Kalkee, is hot on the heels of Horsham Lawn.

After the first doubles sets, they took a 4-0 lead. Matt Jones and Brendan Nitschke defeated Aiden Richardson and Jeff Friberg 8-4, Willow Sainsbury and Tara McIntyre defeated Meaghan Pohlner and Debbie Lawson 8-2, Reece Harman and Shaun Alexander defeated Jordan Friberg and Ryan Fischer, and Adele Joseph and Sienna Nitschke defeated Anna Exell and Charlie Friberg 8-1.

Central Park dominated the female singles, with bagels in both matches. Adele Joseph defeated Anna Exell 8-0 and Willow Sainsbury defeated Meaghan Pohlner 8-0

In the men's, Matt Jones had a tough 8-7 win over Jeff Friberg, and Jordan Friberg got Kalkee on the board with an 8-5 win over Reece Harman.

Central Park then dominated the last six doubles sets, claiming five. Brendan Nitschke and Shaun Alexander defeated Aiden Richardson and Jeff Friberg 8-0, Tara McIntyre and Sienna Nitschke defeated Debbie Lawson and Charlie Friberg 8-3, Matt Jones and Shaun Alexander defeated Jeff Friberg and Ryan Fischer 8-1, Willow Sainsbury and Sienna Nitschke defeated Meaghan Pohlner and Charlie Friberg 8-1 and Adele Joseph and Tara McIntyre defeated Anna Exell and Debbie Lawson 8-4.

Jordan Friberg and Aiden Richardson won Kalkee's set, defeating Reece Harman and Brendan Nitschke 8-5.
