Etherton claims honours, while Baldock aces ninth

It was another fantastic turnout for the Wimmera Veteran Golfers on Monday, October 27, at the Nhill Golf Course, with 85 players competing in a Stableford competition.

A Grade (1-22): winner was Brendan Etherton (Nhill) with the best score for the day, 37 points.

Runner-up on a countback was Anthony Henry (Horsham) with 35 points, followed by Stuart Bone (Nhill) also on 35 points.

B Grade (17-23) winner on a countback was Janice Midgley (Minyip) with 36 points; runner-up, also on 36 points, was Wayne McDonald (Toolondo) & third went to Andrew Coop (Nhill) with 35 points.

C Grade (24+) winner was Roy Liersch (Warracknabeal) with 35 points; runner-up on 33 points was Dave Pert (Nhill), while third was a four-way countback with Jenny Edelsten (Rainbow) claiming the honour with 32 points.

Nearest to the pin on the 4th was Jean Clark (Nhill) & Ian Hair (Natimuk); on the 7th, Cindy Marsh (Minyip) & David Baker (Horsham); on the 9th, Cindy Marsh (again) & Paul Baldock (Dimboola) with a hole in one; on the 12th was Cindy Marsh and Wayne McDonald (Toolondo); and on the 14th was Marsh and David Ryan (Nhill).

Lastly, October 28 was the captain-versus-president challenge, where half the field aligned with each.

The winner, by one point, was the captain's team.

Wimmera Veteran Golfers presented special Service Awards to three valued members: Bob Hayes (Horsham), Daryl Dunford (Chalambar) and Norrie Poulton (Hopetoun).

The next event will be on Monday, November 10, at Edenhope. Meet at 9am for a 9.30am hit off.
